A week-long training of trainers on social mobilisation tools and techniques for Pakistan Approach towards Total Sanitation (PATS) was conducted by Plan Pakistan with the financial assistance of UNICEF in Peshawar, says a press release issued here on Friday.
The main objective of the training was to train social organisers about principles and practices of social mobilisation tools and techniques for PATS, acquire skills to design and deliver a training programme on PATS and support the implementing partners in accelerating the activities of up-scaling rural sanitation programme for open defecation free communities. Sessions held during training regarding total sanitation helped the participants to ponder upon using useful tools used in PATS. The participants came to know about triggering and different tools used in sanitation were explained to the participants.
Ms Saadia Yaqoob, Plan Pakistan and Ajmal, IRSP, addressed the participants regarding PATS so the participants can meet objectives, interventions and expectations from the project. Participants also carried out group works and Brainstorming sessions.
Latrine construction options were explained to the participants thus enabling them to be aware of different technological options appropriate for different localities. Sessions about the demand of sanitation with various supply options helped the participants to understand role and responsibilities of different actors in the demand creation and supply options.-PR
