Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that following the settlement of major portion of rains affectees, now the time has come to implement the programme of development in the province. This he said while presiding over a meeting of Planning and Development Department, held at Chief Minister House here on Saturday.
The Chief Minister who is also the incharge Minister of Sindh Planning and Development (P&D) Department, said that first quarter of the financial year was devoted to the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of more than eight million rain affectees. He said that it is responsibility of P&D department to make plans, prepare Annual Development Programme (ADP), and ensure its implementation. He directed that P&D department should follow the development schemes initiated and approved, and also ensure to monitor the progress and utilisation of funds, ascertain whether the amount in spent properly or not.
Sindh Chief Minister directed that development works be initiated and completed in an expeditious manner as the people have high expectations from the present government, while the government fully intends to provide relief to the people.
Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) Israr Malik briefed the meeting about ADP of year 2011-12, the details of allocations, amount released, the consumption of funds and physical progress of those schemes. He informed that the ADP of the province for the year 2011-12 is Rs 131.00 billion, which includes Rs 20 billion for District Government's allocation. He also briefed about the details of Education Department's Rs 7733 million total allocation, out of which Rs 758.234 million were released in the first quarter. Israr Malik also briefed the meeting about district and city wise details of allocation, release and expenditure under ADP's special development package.
