Shipment of urea disallowed

Engro Corporation on Tuesday said that officials of the Excise Department arrived at Engro Fertilizer's plant in Daharki and informed the plant management that they had verbal orders not to allow any urea shipment to leave the plant. "This action is clearly illegal as no excise duty is payable on urea fertiliser," Engro Corporation said in an information sent to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) on Tuesday.
The company is, however, trying to engage with the government to understand the reasons for this action and to resolve the issue amicably, it added. The Engro Fertilizer Limited, Daharki is 100 percent subsidiary of Engro Corporation.
