In response to TCP tender, awarded for import of urea, first ship carrying 50,000 tons urea is scheduled to arrive on November 20, and the second ship carrying 45,000 tons is due on November 22, 2011 at Gwadar Port. According to a press release, the arrival of balance quantity of this tender is expected by end of November or first week of December.
Out of total target for import of 700,000 tons for Rabi crop, assigned by the government, the TCP has so far procured 260,000 tons urea, whereas the tender for balance quantity of 440,000 tons is scheduled to be opened on Thursday, November 10, 2011.
National Fertiliser Marketing Limited (NFML) has been informed to make necessary arrangements accordingly for transportation and marketing of the imported urea to ensure prompt and timely supply of the same to farmers. The Offices of TCP at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad remained open on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 for sale of tender documents for urea import, and the tender for purchase of sugar from local mills to be opened on November 12, 2011.-PR
