Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan, saying that Dr Zulfiqar Mirza had woken him up, alleged that his predecessor (Mirza) used to receive extortion money through his nephew Emal Mirza and Dr Nisar Morai. "Dr Mirza used to receive Rs 6 million as extortion money only from Ghas Mandi Karachi," Wasan said at a press conference held here at Wasan House.
The minister said that the former home minister was involved in kidnapping for ransom, and added that he has a big gang, which operates in the province. "Mirza has woken up me by levelling false allegations, and now I will make public hundreds of stories of his corruption and other crimes," he said.
Wasan said he has ordered inquiry into extortion, illegal encroachment of lands, etc, in Karachi, and added that Mirza would not escape the law. "One, Aijaz, a friend of Mirza, is also involved in extortion, who afforded the travel expenses of Mirza to Malaysia." Wasan said action would be taken against the gang of Zulfiqar Mirza.
