The Punjab Government has chalked-out an ambitious plan to develop the school education sector on modern lines. Under this plan, a total of Rs 46,170 million will be spent on school education sector by the year 2014. It is expected that this reform plan will improve and modernise the public sector schools besides providing missing facilities in them.
According to the spokesperson of the PEF this was stated by Chairman Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Raja Muhammad Anwar, while talking to a 20-member delegation of social workers of different NGOs involved in the promotion of education, at his residence, on Wednesday. While briefing the delegation, Raja Anwar said that school education is the fundamental tier of whole educational system and therefore, it is given special importance by the Punjab government.
He said that provision of necessary educational facilities like setting-up of 4286 I.T Labs in government schools with a sum of Rs 5 billion, arranging qualified teachers and improving the overall quality of education has been given special attention. Similarly, sports is another area of prime attention as it develops healthy norms in the youth and infuse sportsman spirit in them as well. A sum of Rs 1600 million has been provided for the promotion of sports in the provincial kitty, he told.
