National Highways and Motorway Police have recovered the stolen car of the son of former governor, Salman Taseer and arrested a car-lifter. According to a NH&MP press release, Motorway Police officers during their routine patrolling signalled a Honda Civic VTI car No AKG-438 to stop on a violation of lane.
As the driver stopped the car, SPO Gul Nawaz approached it and observed that the window glass of the backdoor was broken and there was no key in the ignition switch. When questioned, driver Muhammad Shafiq from Lahore failed to satisfy the officer and ran away from the scene. However, the SPO apprehended the culprit. On interrogation, he informed that the said car was stolen from Defence Lahore. On search of the car, the officer found the original papers of the car, which were in the name of late Governor Punjab's son, Shan Taseer.
The visiting card of Shan Taseer was also found in the car. On contact, Shan Taseer informed that the car belonged to him, which was stolen by someone from his residence in Defence B Block. The late governor's son thanked the officers of motorway police for recovering his car. The SHO Defence Police Station Lahore was informed about the recovery of the said stolen car who dispatched his officers for receiving the stolen car and the culprit.
