Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said work on Multan Road project worth billions of rupees has been completed to a large extent while a steering committee has been constituted to finish the remaining work expeditiously. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting to review the remaining development work of Multan Road here on Monday, disclosed an official.
Assembly Members Mian Marghoob Ahmad, Rana Mashood Ahmad, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Hafiz Mian Noman, Saiful Malook, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretary Communication and Works, Director General LDA, DG PHA, Sector Incharge National Logistic Cell and officers concerned were present.
"Multan Road project is of vital importance. The committee will meet thrice a week. The portion of the road from Thokar Niaz Baig to Scheme More has already been inaugurated while the remaining work will also be completed at the earliest," he added.
Earlier, Chairman Planning and Development gave a detailed briefing regarding the pending work of the Multan Road project and its completion. The CM also held a separate meeting with the Lahore Transport Company. On the occasion, he said provision of modern transport facilities to the masses is among the priorities of the government and a comprehensive policy has been adopted for this purpose. "The project of plying cost-effective, comfortable and most modern CNG buses in the provincial metropolis has been started from Monday," he added. According to him, solid measures have been taken for providing better transport facilities to the masses and after Lahore attention will be paid to Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and other big cities of the province in this regard.
