The Divisional Commissioner (DC) Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo has said that offices of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) would be established in each District Headquarters of the Hyderabad division to have a check on illegal construction of buildings adding that without prior approval of the concerned Authority and ill prepared designs have created huge problems especially for the residents of Hyderabad.
This he said while chairing meeting of SBCA officers at Divisional Commissioner House Hyderabad. Regional Director SBCA Hyderabad Naeem Ahmed Mughal and others attended the meeting. Narejo directed the Director General Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) to prepare a report about the current status and the amendments to the present development Master plan of Hyderabad and submit the same in the next meeting. He also directed the RD SBCA Hyderabad to prepare a plan/summary for establishment of offices in District Headquarters and SBCA's Hyderabad office should be made well equipped so that ill-planned development activities and Housing Schemes would be checked and monitored effectively. Regional Director SBCA Naeem Ahmed Mughal while briefing the Divisional Commissioner about the functions of SBCA said that present government is seriously thinking upon the strengthening the authority and enhancing its scope to monitor the ill-planned development activities because high-rise buildings and housing schemes launched in suburbs of major cities are creating drainage and other problems.
He said that SBCA has recently appointed Assistant Directors who are to be posted in Hyderabad after having required training. He said that implementation of rules and regulations about construction of buildings is a huge task before the authority and without establishing of offices and posting of staff and other recourses it is impossible to control illegal construction of such buildings. He said that until the summary for establishment of offices for SBCA at District level is approved a plan has been proposed to rent building to run the offices on temporary basis.
He said that most of the Housing Schemes in suburbs of the Hyderabad are violating the present laws of SBCA; on this Divisional Commissioner assured him that action would be taken against the builders who are violating present rules and regulations.
Earlier presiding a meeting of Hyderabad Development Project (HDP) officials Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad directed the concerned private company to submit design of Naseem Nagar underpass within a week so that the execution of the construction work could be started in shortest possible time. In this connection Narejo also directed all the civil agencies including HESCO, WASA, Irrigation and TMAs to issue NOC's on immediate basis. Showing his displeasure over the slow pace of HDP schemes, he directed concerned officers to take action against contractors who are responsible of slow pace of development work.
