At least five persons including an activist of Awami National Party (ANP) and a son of former DIG traffic were fallen prey to targeted killings in various parts of the metropolis here on Tuesday. According to police and rescuers, an activist of ANP was shot dead in PECHS Society. The incident took place at block 6 PECHS Society on early Tuesday, when unidentified armed men reached on motorcycle and targeted Gul Nawaz, 26, son of Ghaus. Resultantly, he died on the spot.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities. Police said the victim, who was the resident of Lal Kothi Sharah Faisal area, was the former vice president of ANP PECHS ward. They suspected that he might have been murdered over personal enmity.
Following the incident, tension prevailed in the surrounding areas of PECHS and Mehmoodabad where unidentified men torched a poultry truck (JY-8438), leaving 500 chickens killed. Later, heavy contingents of police were dispatched to the said areas to bring situation in control. A case 248/11 was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's brother Ayaz Khan.
A son of former DIG traffic was gunned down at main Korangi road near Kala Pull in the limits of Defence police station. The victim Mubashir Moyo, 24, son of Mohammad Umar Moyo, a resident of PECHS Society, was assaulted when he was travelling in his car near Kala Pull.
Resultantly he received four bullets and died on the spot. DSP Zameer Ahmed Abbasi said the victim was the businessman and at the time of incident he was going on his second home situated in Defence Phase VI. Police suspected that he might have been killed due to love affair and added that he was the son of former DIG Omar Moryo. An FIR 466/11 was lodged under section 7 ATA and 302/34 against unidentified men on the complaint of his uncle Mazhar.
Yet another man was fallen victim in the spree of targeted killings at Kashti Chowk in the limits of Nippier police station. The victim, who was later identified as Zafar, 25 son of Shafi Baloch and a resident of Nippier area near Kashti Chowk, was targeted outside his house. He received nine bullets and died on the spot.
A bullet-riddled body of a teenager was found at Nazimabad in the precincts of Rizvia police station. The incident took place in Nazimabad no 1 where area people informed police that a body of youth was laying in a video shop. Following the information, the police rushed to the spot and recovered a bullet-riddled body of a youth, which was later shifted it to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctor pronounced that victim was killed after being molested.
Police said the identity of victim was yet to be ascertained while the video shop was owned by Alam Zaib. No case was registered till filing of this report. Yet another bullet riddled and tortured body was found in Christian graveyard located in Baldia in the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained, while police found the body near Christian graveyard located in sector 2, Hub river road Baldia. Police said the body, which was eight-day old, had severe torture marks.
