Opposition leader in the Punjab assembly Raja Riaz has given a clean chit to the PML-Q on assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Addressing a press conference in the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday, Raja Riaz criticised Shah Mehmood Qureshi and said that the intelligence agencies had nothing against the PML-Q with regards to Benazir Bhutto's assassination.
It may be noted that Qureshi had said that he opposed the PPP-PML-Q alliance because of the latter's alleged involvement in Bhutto's murder after resigning from the party. Riaz called Qureshi the biggest lota, adding that his remarks against the PPP are not worth protest. According to him, the role played by the federal as well as provincial governments and other concerned authorities in Raymond Davis case was in Pakistan's national interest. He said Qureshi left PPP because he lost his ministry. He said Qureshi had lobbied for a year to become the Prime Minster of Pakistan but failed as President Asif Ali Zardari refused to select him. Raja Riaz also criticised the Punjab government for its failure in administering the province of Punjab.
