Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government would introduce CNG buses in Faisalabad under Pubic-Private Partnership (PPP). Initially as many as 150 buses would be brought on the roads within four months under the project, Shahbaz said during a meeting with members of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).
The chief minister assured FCCI members that Punjab Airlines Services and Punjab Railway Cargo Services would also be initiated under Public-Private Partnership in near future. He announced that International Kabaddi Stadium and Football Stadium would be constructed in Faisalabad. In this regard he directed Divisional Commissioner and DCO Faisalabad to prepare feasibility report of the projects.
Shahbaz appreciated the suggestion of FPCCI President regarding construction of Parking Plazas and announced that the provincial government would invest in the said projects. "Faisalabad city is playing a vital role in the economic development of the country and providing employment to millions of labours," he added. He appreciated the participation of industrialists and business community in establishment of Shahbaz Nagar.
He endorsed the demand of FCCI that a bench of Lahore High Court be established in Faisalabad, saying that in this regard the provincial government had already forwarded recommendations to the Lahore High Court for final approval. Earlier, FCCI President Muzammil Sultan demanded release of development funds for Faisalabad city. He further requested the chief minister to approve the projects of widening of the Canal Road and construction of flyovers and underpasses. He demanded that Cabaddi and ootball Stadium and Medical College should be established in the city.
