Former Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, will decide his future political course after ascertaining support from the sitting members of the assemblies belonging to PPP. Qureshi will hold marathon meetings with PPP's dissident leaders in Multan, Islamabad and Lahore.
He is expected to hold these meetings from November 21st for assuring the support of sitting members of the Assembly for taking a final political decision. It is learnt that Qureshi, who left for Dubai today to attend a seminar on foreign affairs, will start the meetings on his return.
Inner circle members of the former PPP leaders told this scribe that Qureshi is still weighing his options either to join PTI, PML-N or forming a new group and he is likely to reach a final decision after having meetings with around PPP's 15 sitting members of Punjab Assembly and National Assembly from November 21st to November 26th to confirm their overt or covert support.
They further told this scribe that Qureshi enjoys the support of nearly 25 former ticket holders of the PPP who still have strong vote pockets in their respective constituencies. When asked about PTI Chief Imran Khan's statement that Qureshi would join him during the public meeting of the latter in Ghotki (Sindh) on November 27th, they maintained that Imran has contacted Qureshi urging him to take a decision. Similarly, high command of PML-N has also contacted the former PPP leader welcoming him if he decides to join them. Mian Nawaz Sharif will call on him after his return from Dubai.
However, they added that Qureshi would take a final decision after confirming his real support which would emerge after the meetings to take place from November 21st to 26th. Qureshi's close associates also expressed that the sitting members who would take allegiance during the above mentioned meetings would be present in the public moot of November 27th at Ghotki.
Qureshi while talking to media persons over the issue said: "Imran Khan has contacted him, as he is a good friend and it is a tradition that good friends expect a lot from friends. However, he will make public his future political course on November 27th."
