Former Chief Minister Punjab and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) sitting MPA Sardar Dost Muhammad Khosa here on Wednesday admitted before the Lahore High Court (LHC) that he had married actress Zeba Khan alias Sapna Khan, whom he later divorced.
Khosa stated this in an affidavit submitted by his counsel in a habeas corpus petition for the recovery of Sapna Khan and her suckling daughter, from the alleged illegal custody of Khosa. According to the affidavit Khosa said constant disobedience and scuffles on part of Sapna forced him to dissolve the marriage.
Therefore, he divorced Sapna Khan on June 19, 2011 in the presence of witnesses. And all the post divorce disputes were decided at that moment and both parties promised not to raise any demand in future. He claimed that custody of his four-month daughter Mah Gul Khosa out of this wedlock was decided in his favour too.
Khosa's counsel stated before the court that since divorce, his client had no knowledge about the whereabouts of Sapna. He alleged that Sapna was in custody of her sister Hina Khan. After going through the affidavit of Khosa and hearing contention of his counsel, court directed the petitioner for rejoinder by November 28 and rose for the day.
JAP (judicial activism panel) chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique filed this petition in public interest. Later Hina Khan, sister of the alleged detainee, also became party thorough the panel. Petitioner submitted that Sapna was thrashed and taken away by friends of Khosa at GOR-I on June 2, 2011 and since then no clue to her whereabouts was available.
He said news about the incident was published in a national daily on July 7, 2011 and no rebuttal had been made from any side. Referring to the news item, Advocate Siddique stated that Sapna was last time witnessed outside his official residence in GOR-I with a baby girl in her arms. Friends of the former chief minister ruthlessly beat her up and also took her away in a car to unknown place after the baby was snatched from her, the lawyer said. The petitioner, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondents to recover and produce the lady before the court.
