Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday rejected any possibilities of PPP's forward bloc in Sindh saying except few, all leaders and workers are with the party. He was addressing a press conference held at the Chief Minster House. Senior party leaders Professor ND Khan, Taj Hyder and PPP ministers and office bearers were also present.
The chief minister announced that the party membership of MPA Imdad Pitafi has been suspended for violating party discipline. President Asif Ali Zardari who is also the co-chairman of the party has summoned Information Minister Sharjil Memon to clarify his position and his visit to London, he added.
The chief minister said that the party has announced its disassociation with Dr Zulifqar Mirza. He condemned Mirza'a statements against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and its leader. Former Home Minister Dr Zulifqar Mirza is still enjoying the position of member Central Executive committee (CEC) of PPP despite violating the party discipline.
PPP's Central Executive Committee is decision making body of party which met twice after the press conference of Dr Mirza against MQM. He warned that some people are backstabbing the party and it would not be tolerated. He said that all party ministers, MNAs, MPAs and other leaders and workers have been directed to keep away from Dr Zulifqar, if anyone found violating the party discipline, would be punished and stern action would be taken against the violators.
"We are with MQM chief Altaf Hussain, he is our brother. We would continue to work with him. Both the parties would contest elections," he said. The chief minister said that Altaf Hussain had always supported them in every difficult time and they were united in the larger interests of the country and the nation. He said that PPP and MQM would foil every conspiracy against the democratic government.
To a question, he said that the party had not taken decision yet regarding the allotment of election ticket to Mirza's son on his father's vacated seat of MPA. Replying to another question, the chief minister said that Mirza did not have any official proof against the MQM.
