Funeral prayers offered: city remains constantly under threat of terrorism, says Wasan
Karachi city remains to be constantly under threat of terrorism and police are playing a greater role in thwarting such conspiracies, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wasan said. "Policemen are doing their best and sacrificing their lives in the line of duty," he said while talking to media persons after offering funeral prayers at Police Lines Garden for the two policemen who were killed in encounter with the alleged terrorists late on Wednesday night in Clifton area.
He said that the police successfully thwarted a major act of terrorism through intelligence as the five alleged terrorists were well equipped and reasonable quantity of explosives including guns, suicide jackets and ammunition were also recovered unexploded at the site of the encounter. Wassan said that on the lead from the registration plate number of the van, the police has also arrested two accused and probe has been started against them. He said that the arrests have been made after raids in Hyderabad and later in Karachi. The funeral was also attended by senior police officials including Additional IG Falak Khurshid, Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Shabir Shaikh.
