National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has so far disbursed Rs 5,126,593,825 through 637,164 Pakistan Cards to heads of the rain-affected families in Sindh. General Manager, Nadra Sindh, Brigadier Zahid Hussain (Retd) stated this in a statement issued here on Friday
He informed that Nadra had so far issued 637,164 Pakistan Cards in totality to heads of the rain-affected families in Sindh. 114,542 Pakistan cards in Mirpurkhas, 242,270 in Badin, 80,116 in Tando Mohammad Khan and 167,317 in Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah), 15,799 in Tando Allahyar and 17,120 in Sanghar to the heads of the families.
He added that out of 72 total, 42 centres of Nadra are issuing Pakistan card in six districts including Badin, Tando Mohammad Khan, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar and Sanghar whereas other 20 centres, on completing their task, are now addressing the complaints from genuine beneficiaries, who were unable to get registration for Pakistan Cards while 10 more centres will be set-up in Umerkot and Sahghar.
The GM Nadra, Sindh said that Nadra had launched a mobile SMS service in collaboration with Pakistan Telecom-munication Authority (PTA) and all operating telecom companies to determine a person's existence in the beneficiary list for Pakistan Card, a project to facilitate the rain-affected people in checking the status of their requests.
The eligibility of the applicant for Pakistan Card can be checked by simply sending his/her CNIC number to the designated short code ie 9777. In response, a text message will be sent from Nadra central server confirming CNIC existence in the beneficiary list.
The intent to use this service was to assist provincial and local governments to curtail down rush at the centres and to help the flood victims by using technology while the service was free of cost, he added. Brigadier Zahid said that Nadra, in addition to setting up centres, had also mobilised its mobile resources MRVs (Mobile Registration Vans) to process CNIC free of cost in all affected areas in co-ordination with the public representatives and district administrators..-PR
