On the call of Syed Munawar Hassan chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, the city Friday staged a demonstration at Chowk Hussain Agahi to protest against declaring India most favoured nation (MFN). About 150 activists of religious parties and students of religious seminaries joined the demo, which was led by Rao Zafar Iqbal, Deputy Secretary General of JI Punjab and Professor Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhry, district ameer.
The participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans, "No trade at the cost of Kashmir, No to Indian hegemony in Asia, no to destroy local industry." And, "India is killer of thousands of Kashmiris, Kashmir liberation first then trade."
