Pakistan's ambassador to the United States of America (USA) Hussain Haqqani is said to be quizzed by the military leadership besides President Asif Ali Zardari on the controversial Memo that has shaken the Security Institutions.
Haqqani has been summoned by the President Asif Ali Zardari after Army Chief, General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani held a meeting with the President and Prime Minister and presented the documents including transcript of deliberations whose health is still under question, obtained by the ISI from Pakistani-American businessman Mansur Ijaz, another character of this controversy.
Hussain Haqqani has termed the transcript of the memo allegedly sent to Admiral (retired) Mike Mullen fake but Mansur Ijaz said he is ready to present himself before any authority to prove that what is written is authentic. Haqqani who is in the centre of storm in political and military circles for the so-called memo is very upset over the issue and he, according to reports, met some top officials of the US Administration before taking a flight to Islamabad.
Defence and political analysts are of the view that the allegations against the ambassador and those who allegedly dictated the said memo are very serious and some of them are terming it treason to the country. Haqqani, wrote on his Twitter "on way to motherland Pakistan." Earlier, reports suggested that Haqqani has dispatched his resignation from the ambassadorship to the President Asif Ali Zardari but Presidency did not confirm any such information.
