Though a downward trend in dengue fever cases started here with the start of this month but now, the situation is under control in the town as at present there is no patient admitted with positive dengue fever in allied hospitals of the town.
Focal person for RMC and Allied Hospitals of Rawalpindi, Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) Holy Family Hospital (HFH) Dr Javed Hayat talking to APP said that the dengue virus has decreased considerably.
Keeping in view the situation, the government hospitals have been directed to start their working as usual. The number of dengue fever cases is considerably reducing day by day as a rapid downward trend in dengue cases is being witnessed. The average figure of dengue suspect patients attended by the three teaching hospitals of the town is coming down rapidly while so far over 2600 suspected cases have been registered with allied hospitals during this season. The allied hospitals of the town have received 783 positive cases of dengue fever while the total number of suspects so far reported at the three hospitals has reached to 2600.
Data collected by APP, pointed out that to date, out of total suspects, received by the allied hospitals 783 have been tested positive by National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad while 1173 negative.
The NIH has, however, yet to confirm status of 644 suspects. Also the number of patients visiting dengue fever OPD set up at the allied hospitals has noticed downward trend as on Saturday, as many as 191 patients were examined of which 11 new suspected patients were reported while the total suspected dengue patients currently admitted in three hospitals are 27. Few days back, on an average daily over 400 suspected patients were being examined in OPDs of the three hospitals.
