SPADO-MAG has arranged a seminar here on Risk Education Delivery with the theme "Protect Yourself, Protect Your Family, Risk Education Delivery to the Conflict Affected Communities in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and FATA" as to how protect the vulnerable communities and decrease the loss of life and injury that results from the contamination from the use of explosive weapons like mines, UXO and SALW.
Foreign Missions, International NGOs, MRE working group, Civil Society Organisations, Government and media representatives attended the seminar, which is addressed by Raza Khan Shah CEO SPADO, Major Shafqat Malik Assistant Inspector General Police KPK, Sajeela Aziz Finance and Admin Manager MAG and Portia Stratton Country Director MAG.
They said that seminar hallmarked the culmination of SPADO-MAG project in South mainly Tank and DI Khan and in Center, Hangu and Kohat, wherein some 4,207 sessions conducted with local communities and specifically with the IDPs and 142,392 people were informed about the risk education.
A total of 140 community focal points including 79 males and 61 females were identified and trained among targeted community belonging to different shade of life, who helped build strong relationship with community members. They facilitated RE sessions, assessing the situation in the area, besides imparting RE and safety messages and distributing RE Awareness materials to their respective communities.
Similarly Pre and Post KAP- which is Knowledge, Aptitude and Practice were carried out with the purpose to assist us in the planning, tailoring and responding to specifics needs of our targeted groups as well as to evaluate our project and measure the desired impact, besides gauging the understanding level of RE messages and adopting safe behaviour among our targeted groups.
During the course of project we developed so many case studies, which would help us in future to highlight the problem of mines and UXOs, the speakers added. We feel that thousands of community members and IDPs in our project and surrounding area are still vulnerable and in need of life saving education, they concluded.-PR
