President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday conferred the award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon General Hou Shusen, Deputy Chief of General staff, Peoples Liberation Army China, during a special investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The President conferred the award on General Hou Shusen in recognition of his role and outstanding services for further promoting the already existing close bonds of friendship between Pakistan and china.
The ceremony was attended among others by Lieutenant General Liu Yuejun, Chief of staff Lanzhou Military Regional Command, Major General Dan Zhiping, Deputy chief of staff, PLA, Major General Wang Kebin, Dy Chief of Operation Deptt, General Staff HQ, PLA, Major General Wu Bing, Dy Chief of Military Intelligence Deptt, GS HQ, PLA, Senior Colonel Hang Keguang, Commander of Officer Training Base and other members of delegation.
Liu Jian, Chinese ambassador in Pakistan and senior officials of Chinese embassy were also present. Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Federal Minister for Defence, M Salman Faruqui, Secretary General to the President, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Army Staff, Salman Bashir, Secretary Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar, Major (Retd) Haroon Rashid and other senior officials were also present during the ceremony.
The citation read on the occasion said that "In recognition of his consistent and valuable contributions in promoting relations and understanding between the two countries and armies, the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan is pleased to confer the award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) on General Hou Shusen, Deputy Chief of General staff, Peoples Liberation Army China."-PR
