Two Day First Children's Festival (CLF) is all set to be kicked off on November 25 (tomorrow) at Children's Library Complex. Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest on Friday at the opening ceremony of the festival.
This was announced by Managing Director of Oxford University Press Ameena Saiyid and director programmes Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) Bela Raza Jamil here on Wednesday. On this occasion ambassadors of the event Dr Arifa Sayeda Zehra, Adeel Hasmi and Nadia Jamil were also present on the occasion.
Children, authors, educators and parents from all over the country and abroad will attend the CLF as participants. On the guest list are local and international celebrities authors, publishers and well-known personalities who love books and are committed for the propagation of reading culture among children.
The CLF is the first literature festival of its kind for the children of Pakistan to be held at the national level. The purpose of the festival is to promote reading, creativity and critical thinking among children. The CLF is an initiative aimed at generating an interest in children for books, reading, writing authors and literature.
For educators the programme offers panel discussions on how to use library resources and supplementary readers for developing an interest in children for reading. The organisers also plan to have sessions on local languages to popularise mother tongue learning in Pakistan.
