Toyota to produce C-series cars in Turkey

Japanese auto giant Toyota will start production of small C-series sedans in Turkey, investing some 150 million euros in the project, the Anatolia news agency reported on November 24. "I am proud to announce that our company will produce the C-segment sedan," said Orhan Ozer, CEO of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey, in a statement carried by Anatolia.
Toyota's plant in the western province of Sakarya will make the vehicles, with new investment of 150 million euro creating more than 400 jobs, Ozer said.
"We have significant experience on producing sedan cars as we made the Corolla between the years 1994-2006," he said.
Toyota Turkey currently employs 3,000 people and has an annual production capacity of 150,000 units, according to the company website. The small mass-market Verso and Auris models currently built by Toyota Turkey are exported to over 30 countries, it said.
