The Central Council of Awami National Party (ANP) has elected Asfandyar Wali Khan as president of the party for another term. Speaking on the occasion, the Central president, ANP Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that establishment of peace was ANP next goal after accomplishing its political and election manifests under the philosophy of Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan.
Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, senior leader Afzal Khan Lala, Mohammad Azam Khan Hoti, Senator Ilyas Bilour and Federal Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour were also present. He said that they were ready for dialogues with people accepting writ of the government, guarantee not allowing use of territory against others and expelling foreigners otherwise we will continue our struggle against them for diligent and safe future of the nation.
He said that incident of Mohmand Agency was contrary to Pakistan's sovereignty, added, counteracting along with condemnation was required. He said that the United Nations should take notice of violations of its Charter. Citing ANP Central Council election meeting, Asfandyar Wali said that ANP received politics and democracy in legacy from Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan, added, ANP realised objectives of its ancestors despite turbulent circumstances.
He thanked and lauded role of President Asif Ali Zardari in giving identity to Pakhtuns. He said that provincial autonomy achieved under 18th Amendment was unprecedented in the world over and issue of Kala Bagh Dam has been buried forever. He welcomed reforms in Fata and demanded to undertake further steps taking tribal people in confidence. Regarding Mohamand Agency incident, he said that it was the matter of Pakistan's sovereignty, which demands to be counteracted along with condemnation. He said that ANP was the first to react on the incident, added, Nato and ISAF influence was limited to Afghanistan under UN Charter and they have no authority to exercise influence outside Afghanistan.
He stressed UN to keep eye on violations of its charter. He reiterated and peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan was inter-linked and both the countries should ensure not to allow use of their land against each other, consequently opportunities for peace will grow.
He said that ANP was only party that has people welfare programme, added, no other party has such programme and ANP has implemented its manifesto. He said that ANP claims ownership of its land that was why terrorists and militants considered it a major obstacle in their path. He stressed central and provincial organisations to gear up for extending ANP message to the entire country in order to achieve success in coming elections by participating on performance basis.
