Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar said political parties would be provided equal opportunities to promote their political activities in a peaceful and cordial environment. He was addressing a tribal Jirga comprising people from different walks of life, which called on him under the leadership of Senator Mohammad Idrees Khan Safi here at Governor's House on Wednesday.
The Jirga was comprising besides other Jangrez Khan Mohmand, Malik Israel, Malik Said Rehman, Malik Kher Rahman, Dr Farooq Afzal, Noor Mohammd Mohmand and Liaqat Ali. They recorded their sentiments and offer support to the government against cross border attacks.
The Jirga was of the view that the tribesmen would never tolerate such attacks and were united to safeguard the frontiers of the country at any cost. The political administration, he added, had already been directed to have close liaison with local political leaders and to provide them the required co-operation. On a demand about the formation of Fata Tribunal, the Governor said that process was underway as the President Asif Ali Zardari was having keen interest in early constitution of Fata Tribunal. He informed the Jirga that the tribunal would be constituted very soon.
The jirga comprising tribal elders, political workers, lawyers, students and journalists hailing from Musa Khel tribes of Mohmand Agency strongly condemned the Nato helicopters attack on Pakistan's border security posts in Mohmand Agency and appreciated the bold stance taken by the government in response to these unwarranted and unprovoked attacks.
They wowed to stand along the security forces in wake of any eventuality from across the border and to protect the motherland from any foreign aggression and intrusion. The Governor, while appreciating the sentiments of the jirga members, assured that the government would never compromise on the security and sovereignty of the country. He said that such attacks would neither be ignored nor tolerated.
The government, he added, was fully alive to the situation and will take every step in the national interest and in accordance with the people's aspirations. The jirga also highlighted some problems and demands, which the governor responded positively and issued directives to concerned quarters for their accomplishment.
To another demand, the Governor said that implementation on the FCR amendments was being closely monitored. The political authorities, he added had been directed to send detail reports about the detainees in their respective lock ups and the status of their cases, which will be processed on case to case basis to provide relief to innocent people if detained in minor cases or in violation of the FCR amendments.
The Governor said that the government had already approved establishment of Cadet College in every tribal Agency and the established of Cadet College in Mohmand Agency was part of the project to be implemented accordingly. He, on another demand, said that as per policy the qualified candidates from Fata were being given preference in government jobs and wherever possible relaxation was also being given in certain cases.
