Dealing with any foreign aggression: petitioner urges Supreme Court to give army chief a free hand
A constitutional petition has been moved in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking the direction of the court to give Chief of Army Staff "a free hand" in accordance with law to defend the territories of Pakistan against any foreign aggression, including drone attacks.
The petitioner, Tariq Asad advocate, filed the petition under Article 184(3) of the Constitution on 'Memogate'. The petitioner contended in the petition that the controversial memo was a step forward to a conspiracy against the sovereignty of Pakistan to take over nuclear assets. Tariq pleaded that the removal of Pakistan ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani had provoked the US to launch an attack on the army.
