Japan and Pakistan have enjoyed extremely close ties for more than half a century and they continue to grow stronger. This was stated by Japanese Consul General Masaharu Sato at a reception hosted by him at his residence to celebrate the 78th birthday of the Japanese Emperor. Sato said the Japanese people appreciated the help and assistance rendered by the Pakistani people when Japan suffered an earthquake and tsunami in March this year.
The Japanese Consul General said Japan had the world's oldest monarchy dating back to 700BC and the present Emperor was the 123rd monarch. It is a custom in Japan not to mention the emperor by name and the consul general followed the custom throughout his address.
He said the role of the emperor is to promote internal friendship among the people of Japan and is very close to the hearts of the Japanese people. After the March natural calamity, the Emperor had exhorted the people to be compassionate to each other and never give up hope.
Sato said the help of Pakistani expatriates present in Japan at the time of the disaster would be always remembered by the Japanese people. The humanitarian assistance sent by the Pakistani people through the PJBF and PJCF was also much appreciated.
The Japanese envoy said next year is the 60th anniversary of Pakistan Japan formal ties and he hoped that the people of both the countries develop even closer ties and strong partnership. Sindh Minister Raza Haroon representing the Sindh Governor felicitated the Japanese Emperor on his birthday and said the relationship between both the countries would grow stronger. Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Khuhro said ties between both countries were extremely close. The reception was attended by elite of the city and the Japanese community residing in the city.-PR
