The Karachi Port handled 58,306 tonnes of cargo comprising 40,230 tonnes of import cargo and 18,076 tonnes of export cargo including 1,915 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 40,230 tonnes comprised of 5,511 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,336 tonne of general cargo; 383 tonnes of sulphur and 30,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,076 tonnes comprised of 14,461 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,715 tonnes of general cargo and 1,900 tonnes of cement. Five ships namely President Jackson, Greenwich Bridge, Kota Arif, Wo Long Song and Seychelles Prelude carrying three container ships, one general cargo ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels viz Marcampania, Manila Express, Sai Sunrise and Maistros carrying two container ships, one bulk cargo ship and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely Marcampania, Manila Express and Maistros with two container ships and one oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
A container ship namely YM Fuzhou due to arrive on Thursday, while eleven vessels viz Emirates Marina, APL Chicago, OOCL Dalian, Bravo, Viona, Blossom, Liquid Forol, Badr, Cariagena, Sea Rose and Laurel Island carrying five container ships, two chemicals carriers, one crude oil tanker, one mogas ship, one coal carrier and one steel coils carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
Two ships namely CV CGM Rossini and Battery Park sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely Sunrise Wisteria is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of six vessels ACX Hibiscus, CMS Rossini, Fisher-K, Zeynep-K, Battery Park and Sunrise Wisteria are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds, chemicals and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships scheduled to load/offload containers, rice and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. A total number of five vessels viz Nysted Maersk, Safmarine Ngami, Saigon Express, MSC Roberta and Chembulk Savannah carrying containers and palm oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
