The President and Secretary Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) here on Saturday said that every institution of the country should perform its duty within the limits and added formation of commission on the issue of memo scandal is the duty of Parliament and not of the court.
Addressing a press conference at the SCBA Lahore office, President Mohammad Yaseen Azad and Secretary Mohammad Aslam Zaar criticised the apex court's decision to constitute commission for the transparent inquiry about memo scandal. They said: "It will be harmful for the country, if institutions go beyond their limits." President SCBA said that political stakeholders should not involve the judiciary in every issue and should solve their issues in parliament and added memogate inquiry should be done through parliament. Azad added that PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif had to discuss the memogate issue in the National Assembly.
Azad, responding to a question, said the Supreme Court did not allow time to attorney general to seek directions from the Federation for its representation. Azad and Aslam Zaar also praised the government's steps after the Nato attack and supporting the recent press conference of Babar Awan, said his press conference could not be deemed as contempt of court. Azad said boycott of Bonn Conference, stoppage of Nato supply and order to vacate Shamsi Airbase are the bold and good efforts of the Federal Government.
He also urged the government to implement on the apex court's verdicts in letter and sprit, and write letters to Swiss authorities for reopening corruption cases pending against President Zardari and others. Vice-President Imrana Bloch said that legal fraternity throughout the country condemned the Nato strikes. Baloch added that "now government and army will have to take practical steps to save the dignity and sovereignty of the county."
