BoD hailed Pesco for reduction in line losses, increase in recovery and saving of Rs 300 million in purchase of single phase meters while acting upon the directions of BoD, this progress was hailed by BoD in its 63rd meeting held the other day at Wapda House Peshawar.
Hassam-ud Din Bangash chaired the meeting. BoD members, Chief Executive Pesco Muhammad Wali, Professor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, Razi-ud-Din, Haji Muhammad Sharif, Syed Ishfaq Hussain, Nauman Wazir, Chief Engineer Operation Abdul Latif Khan, Chief Engineer Customer Services and Technical Hanan Khan, Chief Engineer Project Management Unit Malik Muhammad Sadiq Awan, Deputy General Manager Finance Anwar-ul-Haq Yousafzai, DG (HR) Khurshed Ahmad Orakzai and Director Public Relations Shaukat Afzal, attended the meeting.
First of all company secretary presented minutes of 62nd BoD which were approved after detailed discussion with minor amendments. BoD discussed and approved the annual accounts of the year 2010-11,BoD also approved Capital/ Development budget for the year 2011-12. BoD reviewed over all monthly progress of field formations and issued necessary instructions in this regard. Chief Executive Pesco said that Pesco has saved Rs 300 million in purchasing of single phase meters according to BoD directions. It was also informed that Rs 70 million savings is also being expected in purchase of distribution transformers in the coming days. Pesco BoD hailed Pesco Management in this regard. "Purchase and Procurement", "Audit and Finance", "HR" and "Strategic and planning" sub committees of BoD were reconstituted and it was decided that these sub committees will meet in 2nd week of each month and will put up their recommendations to BoD on the assigned jobs. Creating of divisions and sub-divisions was also discussed and agreed in principal but directed to adjust the staff in these new sub divisions and divisions by re organising the current staff. BoD decided that merit will be given top priority in all matters. BoD directed to avoid over billing at all costs, otherwise strict disciplinary action will be initiated as the increasing trend of over billings/wrong billing is badly damaging the Pesco's image. BoD instructed to activate and strengthen the existing Customer Services Centers to redress the customers problems effectively and if required, details may be presented to establish "Call Centers" for redressal of customers complaints. BoD instructed proposal of additional meters and transformers in all sub-divisions for the replacement of burnt meters and transformers. Due to these steps consumer's problems will be redressed efficiently.
BoD directed to take all possible steps to eliminate the Kunda culture and severe steps should be taken against the people involved in illegal use of Electricity. BoD was optimistic to make Pesco 'Consumer Friendly Company' for which the Pesco has to redress the public complaints at their doorsteps. Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Wali while briefing BoD about the Pesco performance said that Pesco has reduced line losses upto 3 percent and increased recovery by 13 percent compared to October 2010. He has shown his determination to further reduce line losses and increase recovery further. He also appealed the customers for co-operation to conserve energy, he also asked the illegal users of electricity to immediately remove the Kundas in the larger national interest. CEO Pesco said that due to mutual understanding and co-operation Pesco will be able to resolve the electricity problems.
The BoD accorded approval to a number of other technical and administrative matters. Concludingly 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) was also held which approved the minutes of 12th AGM meeting. The AGM discussed in detail Pesco audit report and approved appointment of new auditors for Pesco for the year 2011-12 and other important matters were also approved.-PR
