Artificial intelligence (AI) is now being incorporated in almost everything, so why not in televisions? Having said that, various television manufacturers have declared their plans to do so by making our smart TVs smarter.

Few of the biggest television manufacturers LG and Sony announced that they will add the voice computing technology Google Assistant to some of their smart TVs. This addition will not only add numerous features to the TV but will make the TV more easily usable by the user. On the other hand, another manufacturer Samsung has announced to introduce AI in its TV for different purposes too.

Where LG and Sony plan to add AI to their TVs for providing a more futuristic life-like experience where the user would be able to control the television just by speaking to it instead of using a remote; Samsung will use AI to enhance how lower-resolution images look on its new upcoming high-end 8K TVs, reported Business Insider.

LG’s Google Assistant-powered TV will carry out various task for the user that includes being able to change channel or switching to a particular show through speaking. Also, while watching any video, the user can ask the TV for specific information such as the name of the actor starring. Without changing to a separate channel, the user can ask the TV for other information such as sports scores or check the weather. Music can be turned on by commanding the TV, pictures can be viewed from Google Photos account, smart home devices like light bulbs can be controlled, game consoles can be turned on, and the user can also direct the TV to turn off after a specific show ends.

Meanwhile, Samsung is using the AI technology to make its 8K videos look better. The 8K TV can take 4K, 1080p and 720p videos and convert them to 8K. However, it is not yet known when will these AI TVs be available and how much will they cost, according to The Verge.
