The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader in Indian Occupied Kashmir Syed Ali Geelani has described former puppet chief minister, Farooq Abdullah and his party as the 'national criminals of Kashmiris' saying that they betrayed the Kashmiris at every critical juncture.
Reacting to the statement of Farooq Abdullah Syed Ali Geelani said that India's presence in Kashmir was only because of the National Conference and Sheikh Abdullah Family, Kashmir Media Service reported. "Farooq Abdullah, the sycophant without conscience, has no standing to merit any attention, but it has become inevitable to set the records straight," the veteran leader said in a statement.
Geelani said NC and Sheikh Family were squarely responsible for the bloodshed and sufferings of Kashmiris. "Hadn't NC and Sheikh Family betrayed the nation, hadn't they turned Muslim Conference into National Conference in 1938. The situation would have been different today and we wouldn't have to receive the bullet riddled bodies of our beloved ones. The Kashmir issue is the consequence of the deceit politics of the Sheikh Family and NC," he said.
Taking dig at the National Conference, the pro-freedom leader said the party's rule from 1947 to 1953 was a painful chapter in the history of Kashmir. "Those who would talk about Azadi those days were tortured and sent into exile and even people who would listen to Radio Pakistan were subjected to cruelties," he said.
"They have never been well wishers of Kashmiris. For the sake of power, they assumed chair in 1975 and those who raised voice against this betrayal were subjected to inhuman and brutal torture. Ghulam Muhammad Balla of Sopore was tortured to death in occupied Srinagar Central Jail. It was the first custodial killing in the Valley," he said. Geelani said. "It was Farooq Abdullah who signed the orders of hanging Shaheed Maqbool Butt in 1984. It was the same Butt with whom he had taken oath to fight for the freedom of Kashmir."
