President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mian Abrar Ahmed, has urged the Ambassador and Consul General of Turkey to take personal interest in the establishment of Istanbul-Karachi joint chamber of commerce. In a communication, he said that establishment of joint chamber will bring together the business communities of Turkey and Pakistan.
He pointed out that Karachi Chamber has already entered the international commerce arena and KCCI has established Pakistan-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Bombay-Karachi joint chamber. Likewise the chamber intends to establish Istanbul-Karachi joint Chamber of Commerce to uplift trade between the two countries. He said that the chamber attaches high level of significance to Pakistan-Turkey bilateral trade and relationship due to geo-strategic locations of two brother Muslim countries.
Pakistan is a gateway to Central Asian republics, South Asia, Middle East and China. Successful implementation of Economic Co-operation Organisation (ECO), high speed train project connecting Islamabad, Tehran, Turkey can act as the gateway to European Union (EU) for Pakistan and other Asian countries. He said Turkey is also the largest exporter to EU and Pak-Turkey joint ventures may act as cornerstone to explore new economic horizons for both countries.
