Awami National Party (ANP) Central Secretary Information Senator Zahid Khan reiterated that ANP would keep on supporting Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and President Asif Ali Zardari through thick and thin. Talking to Business Recorder here on Thursday, Senator Zahid Khan said that ANP is doing politics of principles under which it joined the coalition government. "ANP would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Zardari in all adversaries," he said.
He elaborated that ANP had three major demands on the basis of which they joined the coalition government, which included giving identity to Pakhtoons, provincial autonomy and abandoning Kalabagh dam project. "With the support of PPP and Asif Ali Zardari, ANP succeeded in meeting it's all the three demands." Zahid Khan added.
He further said that differences of opinion were the right of every person, as it is the beauty of democracy, but it should not damage the democracy. He said the PPP and ANP would have minor differences on some issues, but they are on same page on issues of national interests.
Replying to a question, Zahid Khan said that it would be pre-mature to talk about the alliance in the next general elections with PPP. However every option is open in politics and ANP would decide after thorough deliberation about future course of action, he added. He further said that Asfandyar Wali Khan has telephoned President Asif Ali Zardari to enquire about his health, adding that he (Zardari) is in stable condition now. President will come to Pakistan as soon as all his tests are cleared, he added.
