Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik has been elected Regional Vice President of International Ombudsman Institution (IOI) by a wide margin of votes. Elections were held under the auspices of I.O.I situated in Vienna, on 2nd December 2011. Malik defeated his opponent Mau Cong Fong of Macao, China. Fong is Commissioner against corruption in China.
Peter Kostelka, Secretary General of I.O.I has felicitated Malik on his election. It may be recalled that Malik was earlier elected as Director on Board of Directors of I.O.I in August 2011. Malik as Vice President of I.O.I will be in a position to articulate not only Pakistani view points but that of the Asian Region on important issues which come up for deliberations at the international forum. The August Body, has in fact reposed confidence in Pakistan, besides Malik. Malik has expressed his resolve to serve I.O.I in his new capacity to the best of his abilities and thanked all members for their confidence in him.-PR
