Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Monday said that the provincial government had declined to accept three foreign loans worth millions of rupees due to availability of additional resources. He said that foreign loans would only be acquired for revenue generating projects so that those could be repaid without burdening the people.
He expressed these views while formally inaugurating the sub-campus of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan in Chitral. Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Salim Khan and Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Dr Ihsan Ali also addressed the ceremony. MNA Shahzada Mohi-ud-Din, MPA Ghulam Muhammad, Divisional and District authorities, ANP District President Syed Muzaffar Hussain Jan, General Secretary Shah Wazir Khan and large number of local notables were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that out of the total amount of Rs 110 billion outstanding under the head of net profit on electricity, the province had received Rs 40 billion. He added that power production projects would be initiated with that amount. Hoti said that Lowari Hydel Power Generation Project would be launched in spring season that would generate 69 MW of electricity.
He said that the provincial government would complete the project of generating electricity in Chitral City in case Wapda failed to accomplish it. He further said that Chitral development budget was Rs 420 million in 2009 which was increased to Rs 800 million in 2010.
The Chief Minister announced Rs 200 million for construction and repair of 38 km Chitral Garam Chashma Road, Rs 80 million for reconstruction of flood devastated bridge in Boni, and Rs 5 million from personal fund for linking Bakalek water supply scheme to city. He also announced establishment of Technical Institute, Installation of Heating System for Gynae Ward in District and Tehsil Headquarter Hospital and construction of protection wall around food godown costing Rs 25 million.
The Chief Minister approved buses for Government Degree College and Commerce College and directed for estimation of Darvesh Caso Water Supply Scheme. He said that construction and repair of roads in inner city will cost Rs 57 million. He issued directives to SMBR for immediate solution to problems of 204 employees of Revenue Department. The Chief Minister said that Rs 100 million were being spent on the upgradation of RHC in Ayun and Rs 190 million on the improvement of District Headquarter Hospital. He said that preparation of Marble through modern technology was an important project that would cost Rs 150 million. Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Salim Khan thanked the Chief Minister on taking keen interest in development of Chitral.
