Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan Thursday made it clear to US ambassador Cameron Munter that menace of terrorism Pakistan faces today is just because of being frontline ally of US which is fighting terrorists in Afghanistan. He stated this during a meeting with US ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter and former ambassador Robin Raphael, who called on him at the PTI central secretariat here.
Imran was of the view while talking to US delegation that his party believes in good relations with all countries, including US but clarified in equivocal terms that this partnership cannot be at the cost of Pakistan's national interest. Khan categorically told the US envoy that if the US wants friendship with people of Pakistan, it should stop violating its sovereignty through drone attacks and other incursions inside its territory.
He strongly condemned the unprovoked attack on Salala check posts of Pakistan army in which 24 soldiers lost their lives. PTI once again reiterated that it does not believe in having meetings foreign dignitaries behind closed doors as some media reports have suggested. The interaction of Imran Khan with US officials in Dubai is a complete fabrication of the facts, said the statement.
Meanwhile, sources in PTI central secretariat revealed that the meeting took place at PTI central secretariat here, in which a six-member delegation headed by Cameron Munter held a detailed meeting with PTI chief. Imran did not expect it. He was thinking that it would be a one-on-one meeting between him and the US envoy. Imran did not take any of his party leaders along, saying that it is one-on-one meeting but in the meantime Munter arrived with a half a dozen US officials and Imran Khan had to face them 'all alone', sources added.
