The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha has said that academic collaboration among two Turkish universities can help boost the livestock economy and transform the fate of the farmers. MoU signing ceremony was held on Thursday at conference hall.
The MoU was signed by UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and Namik Kemal University Rector Professor Dr Osman Simsek and Middle East Technical University Professor Dr Inci Togan. Punjab Livestock Dairy Development Department Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh, Punjab Agriculture Meat Company CEO Dr Hamid Jaleel and Punjab Livestock Dairy Development Board CEO Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali (Retd) were also present at the ceremony.
UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha stressed the need to conduct problem oriented research. He said university would facilitate two brotherly Muslim countries universities, while providing them research based data and solution to upcoming challenges. UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that livestock sector has immense potential and big source of profitable business. He said that Pakistan has best dairy breed Nili-Ravi Buffalo and Sahiwal cow in the world.
UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Pasha said that it was a great opportunity for students, faculty and researchers to get benefit each other experiences and to develop joint research projects, curriculum and faculty exchange in this regard. Namik Kemal University Rector Professor Dr Osman Simsek said that the agreement intends to bring the UVAS and two Turkish universities on a platform to co-ordinate efforts, work together and jointly contribute to uplift the livestock economy. He also said that university would collaborate in research and production of vaccine for livestock with UVAS.
Punjab Agriculture and Livestock Minister Malik Ahmad Ali Aulkah said, "MoU strengthens the existing cordial relationship between the two Muslim countries". He lauded that collaboration in research and production of vaccine for livestock with university and Punjab Livestock Dairy Development Department would be a milestone among two Muslim nations.
