The committee meeting was held here on Thursday with Raja Pervez Ashraf in the chair. The representation of Pakistan Muslim League-N was missing from the committee meeting. At the end of meeting, Raja Pervaz told the media persons that committee endorsed the decisions taken at various levels by the government ie, suspending Nato supply, vacating Shamsi Airbase and constituting Abbottabad Commission.
Ashraf said that the TORs would be shared with the Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on National Security Mian Raza Rabani to avoid any overlapping before holding next meeting of the committee. The 11-member committee was formed by National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza on the demand of the opposition parties, which has representation of all major parties.
Besides, overseeing the implementation of the resolutions, the special committee has also been mandated to make public the progress on the resolutions on monthly basis. Through the 13-point APC resolution, the entire political leadership of the country had agreed to initiate a dialogue process in tribal areas with the slogan "Give peace a chance" giving an indication of a change in the present strategy of tackling terrorism through military action.
