Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive) on Monday claimed to have seized foreign origin goods worth Rs 11.316 million from a bus at RCD Highway. According to statement issued here on Monday, an information disclosed that a bus bearing registration No PO-787 would be used for the transportation of smuggled Indian and other foreign origin goods from Quetta through RCD Highway.
In pursuance of the said information incognito surveillance was mounted on the suspected route by the anti-smuggling organisation of Preventive Collectorate, Karachi. The said bus was noticed proceeding towards Karachi, which was subsequently intercepted near Mochko on RCD Highway. The bus was fully loaded with the smuggled goods on its roof and interior. On inquiry the driver of the bus could not substantiate the lawful possession of the laden goods. The said bus was taken into custody and then escorted to anti-smuggling organisation headquarter, NMB Wharf.
They yielded the recovery of cigarettes super slim esse special gold (made in Korea) 15000 packets, cigarettes cima classic (made in Korea) 10500 pkts, zest light cigarettes (made in Korea) 4500 pkts, BT filters Khaini extra powder (made in India) 380,000 pouches, J M brand gutkha (made in India) 33250 pouches, which were non-duty paid and smuggled. Hence the goods along with the bus were seized worth Rs 11.316 million. Further investigation is in progress.-PR
