Sindh police on Monday claimed to have arrested 12 notorious criminals in separate encounters at various parts of the metropolis and recovered huge cache of weapons from them.
According to officials, a team headed by SSP Farooq Awan raided at Chinasar Goth, Mehmoodabad and arrested six notorious criminals namely Imran alias Immi, Irfan alias Jabal, Bashir alias Nanna Sheddi, Imran alias Mani, Farooq alias Rotha and Zulfiqar and recovered one SMG, one repeater, four TT pistols and several rounds from their possession.
They said the raid was made on the information of arrested person, which revealed that these accused persons, who were said to be associated a notorious drug peddler with Ashok, were hiding in the said area. The cases were registered against them and further investigation was underway. Similarly, the Crime Investigation Department of Sindh Police have arrested six criminals in separate raids and recovered weapons from them.
According to SSP Fayaz Khan, the raids were conducted at Korangi Industrial Area, Sohrab Goth and near Civil hospital and arrested six accused namely Muhammad Ijaz, Fateh Khan, Akbar Khan, Tabish, Imam Bux Jafferi and Adnan Khan with one AK-47, four pistols and 90grams of hashish. He said these accused persons were involved in several crimes including bank robberies, terrorism, kidnapping, murders, attempt to murders and others.
