Sindh police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two persons who were charged with the crime of gang rape and murder of 14-year-old girl in the limits of Joharabad police station. According to SSP Central, Asim Khaimkhani, the victim, Alishba, 14, was kidnapped from Goharabad on December 14, 2011 in the jurisdiction of Joharabad police station.
He said the culprits, after sexual assault, killed Alishba and threw her body at Block 2, Gulistan Johar. He said the arrests were made when the accused persons, who tried to 'kidnap another girl' namely Nameera, 9, from the said area where Alishba resided, were caught by the area people. He said Naamera informed the police that she saw Alishba last time with the culprits, and then her body was recovered from Gulistan Johar.
He said the culprits namely, Majid alias Bhora and Shabbir, are the residents of Goharabad and painters by profession. They hail from Southern Punjab. The SSP further said the accused persons, during initial course of investigation, confessed to have murdered Alishba after raping her. Moreover, both the accused persons are married and living in the said area with their families. He said that cases against them have been registered and further investigation into the incident is underway.
