Earthquake-affected areas: Rs 24 billion required to complete ongoing uplift projects, National Assembly told
The National Assembly was informed on Thursday that a total of Rs 24 billions were required to complete the ongoing development projects in earthquake-affected areas while the government had released Rs 10 billion during the current fiscal year.
Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah while responding to a call attention notice moved by Murtaza Javed Abbasi told the House that 80 percent work in the earthquake affected areas of Azad Kashmir and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had been completed. He said that Rs 24 billion were required to complete the remaining work in the affected areas.
He said Rs 10 billion were allocated for this purpose during the current financial year while the remaining Rs 14 billions would be allocated in the budget of next financial year. The minister said the government was committed to complete reconstruction and rehabilitation of quake-affected areas and ERRA has been directed to expedite work on the ongoing projects.
