A division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notices to Director General Pakistan Rangers and Advocate General and Inspector General Police Sindh in an application filed by Afaq Ahmed, chairman Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-Haqiqi) seeking protection to him and workers and supporters.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh after hearing arguments of Afaq Ahmed, who appeared in person, on the application ordered issuance of notices to the respondents. In the application, he expressed serious concern about his security and harassment, threats to him and his workers, supporters.
Afaq Ahmed also drew the attention of the court to its earlier order of November 29, 2011, in which Pakistan Rangers was asked to provide security to him. He prayed to the court to direct the DG Rangers to make adequate security arrangements for his protection.
