Federal Secretary Commerce, Zafar Mahmood, paid a visit to Indus Motor Company (IMC). The Commerce Secretary discussed about possible changes in the coming trade policy in the background of MFN status being granted to India and its impact on Pakistan's auto industry. Used car import policy by the government and commercial import of used cars was also discussed during the visit. He complimented Indus Motors on its vital role in supporting the auto industry and parts suppliers in this challenging environment.
During the visit, the Commerce Secretary was taken on a tour of the IMC manufacturing plant. He took great interest in locally made auto parts that were on display. He admired the international standard systems in place at IMC and commended the company for bringing continuous development to the auto industry in Pakistan.
Zafar Mahmood acknowledged the challenges faced by the local auto manufacturing industry and assured the company of his Ministry's full support. He stated that the government would work closely with the auto industry and private sector and try to solve the issues faced by it.-PR
