Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa opposes the pre-election alliance with other parties especially with Awami National Party and urged the central leadership to give concentration on solution to the grievances of the ideological workers.
The PPP coalition government with ANP will be detrimental for the party as majority of workers are annoyed and would resist any pre-election alliance, PPP provincial Spokesman Syed Ayub Shah told a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday.
He said that all the potential candidates of his party would remain deprived of the election process. Currently, he said that the ANP is providing funds to its losing candidates and accommodating them like elected representatives just to maintain their position and increase the party's vote bank in their respective constituencies. He said that non of the losing candidates of PPP were given funds during the four years and, on the other hand, the ANP's losing candidates are being treated like that of MPAs in all the districts.
Regarding the observance of Benazir Bhutto's death anniversary, he informed that PPP activists in different groups would leave for Larkana early on December 26 to participate in the death anniversary. He asked the people to register their names with PPP district Peshawar President Israr Khan and Tahir Abbas, etc.
He further added that the party workers would hold Quran Khwani on December 27 at Gulbahar on death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto and later take out a rally from the venue to Chowk Yaadgar to condemn the brutal murder of their beloved leader.
He recalled the services rendered by PPP leaders for the restoration of democracy and against the dictators and claimed that rest of the parties were enjoying the free political environment due to sacrifices of his leaders. Commenting upon the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani's statement in the parliament, he said that the clear stand against any possible threat to the democratic set-up has been appreciated by all and sundry.
"The credit goes to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who gave a constitution to the country but the dictators at their tenures distorted its shape and implemented the laws of their interests only," he added and said that again the PPP government restored the constitution in its real shape by approving the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
Shah said that the country was disintegrated due to wrong policies of the dictators and it is now need of the hour that all the political forces should join hands to strengthen democracy and develop the country. He said that the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto would soon visit parts of the country, take the party people in confidence to reorganise it at all levels. About the PPP leaders who joined Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, he said that they are time-server and have nothing to do with PPP ideology.
He said the party had decided that all the elected representatives including ministers would have to obey the party leadership and give proper concentration on service of the workers. About the next general elections, Shah said that his party is strong enough to sweep the next general elections and serve the people.
