Futures open interest down 1.6 percent

The total open interest position during the week ended on December 23, 2011 declined by Rs 22 million or -1.6 percent on week-on-week basis to Rs 1.4 billion. The futures spreads, on the other hand, increased by 700bps to 24.4 percent.
Trading at the futures counter remained low and average daily volume declined by 1.5 percent basis to 5.3 million shares. The top 5 scrips at the futures counter, holding 63 percent of the total open interest, were Engro, FFC, POL, NBP and PSO.
