The Spokes-man of the Government of Pakistan Monday rejected "the baseless news report published by a section of press, giving an impression as if the PPP government was bent upon rolling back the nuclear programme".
The spokesman said that it was Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan who initiated and pioneered the country's nuclear programme and sacrificed his life for the sacred cause of making Pakistan's defence impregnable. The spokesman emphasised that no one can compromise on the nuclear assets of the country.
The spokesman added that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto carried forward the mission of Shaheed Z A Bhutto and followed the dream of making Pakistan a strong and stable country. The spokesman said that the nuclear assets of the country were in safe hands and the present government will never allow rolling back or cutting down of the budget related to the development of the nuclear programme.
The spokesman added that the present government is striving hard to expand and strengthen further the defence system of the country. The present government of PPP is committed to its nuclear programme in the best interest of the nation and country. The Spokesman also dismissed media campaign launched by the vested interests in the western and a section of local media against Pakistan's nuclear programme.
