All industrial units in seven industrial estates of the city resumed operation after remaining closed from 7 am on Sunday till 7 am on Monday to save gas and ensure uninterrupted industrial operation for rest of the week.
Meanwhile, the industrialists have criticised the announcement of pubic holiday in Sindh on 27th December (today) on account of the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto saying that the production would be badly hit as the industries were already operating under capacity due to prolonged loadshedding and low gas pressure.
They further said that under the present circumstances it had become extremely difficult for them to meet the local and international export orders.
Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) Chairman Ehtishamuddin said that all industrial units in Korangi remained closed on Sunday. He further said that no complaint of low gas pressure was received from any part of the industrial area on Monday. e also criticised the announcement of pubic holiday saying that the industrialists were already suffering huge production losses due to 8 hours loadshedding and closure of industries on Sunday.
Site Association of Industry (SAI) Chairman Mohammad Irfan Moton said that industrial units in SAI remained closed on Sunday. He said that the industrialists had decided to keep their units operative on Tuesday and pay overtime.
Replying to a question, he said that Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) was carrying out 8 hours loadshedding in industrial areas of the city.
